Olympus recorder charging issues

Problem

You have problems charging an Olympus record and need to troubleshoot the issue.

Affected products

  • DM-670
  • DM-650

Resolution

  • Ensure the Battery option is set to NiMH, not Alkaline. To do this, press Menu, Device, then Battery.
  • If the Olympus is being charged via the USB port:
  • While the recorder is during stop mode or turned off, connect the USB cable to the connecting terminal on the bottom of the recorder. While [Press OK to start charging] is flashing, press the OK button.
  • You may also need to ensure that the USB Class option is set to Storage Class. To do this, press Menu, then Device, USB settings, then USB Class.
  • Finally, you may need to replace the batteries particularly if the unit has been recharged many times. The unit will work with standard AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries. You may also use non-rechargeable Alkaline batteries, as long as you do not attempt to recharge them.
