Openbook - activation after 40 minute timer expires

Problem

Openbook may no longer run sufficiently to activate the software after the 40 minute demo timer has expired. this problem can occur on Windows 8.1/10/11 systems where Windows no longer goes through a full restart but instead does a hybrid boot so the timer never resets.


Resolution

  • Please use this procedure to bypass Openbook and directly run the activation wizard run the activation wizard directly to complete activation.
  • Alternatively disable Window Fast Boot in power settings and restart the PC to begin activation.
  1. Press WINDOWS+R to open the “Run” command.
  2. Then copy/paste in this path:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Freedom Scientific\Activator\1.1\openbook.fsrac"
  1. When the authorisation wizard pops up choose the Internet activation option and complete the steps to activate the software.
  2. After activating attempt to run Openbook, open Help > About Openbook to confirm the serial number for the license,
