OxSight battery drain expectations

Problem

A customer is in contact regarding apparent battery drain issues after charing the unit to 100% and after some time whilst not in use discovery charge levels are reduced from 100 percent.

Resolution

This following information has been provided to us by OxSight regarding expectations for battery drainage levels after full 100% charge status even when the unit appears to be off..

  • Onyx is designed for fast startup using 3 to 4 chips that remain powered to facilitate ultra-fast boot capacity. This means that even when powered off the device will still consume power.
  • A typical example may be that the device is charged to 100% capacity at 10pm, by 7am (9 hours) the battery will typically drop to 84%. This level of drop is considerred normal for the device and not a fault.
