ZoomText - PowerShell or Command Prompt windows crashes/closes whilst ZoomText running

Problem

When ZoomText is running and you open a PowerShell window and attempt to run commands; the commands crash or the PowerShell window abruptly closes. These problems have been observed in both ZoomText 2020 and 2021.


Affected versions

  1. ZoomText 2002
  2. ZoomText 2021

Resolution

Using the ZoomText classtool may resolve the issue using the steps below:


  1. Open a PowerShell window.
  2. Open the ZoomText main window click on ZoomText > ZoomText Support.
  3. Then choose Fix-It Command in the sub menu.
  4. Then enter classtool into the Fix it command edit box and click Apply Fix-it Command button.
  5. Then click on the PowerShell window.
  6. Now check "Disable MSAA in application" and click OK button.
  7. Restart ZoomText and the problem application or program to test if the solution works.
