JAWS - Problems downloading version 17.0 or earlier

Problem

A JAWS customer wishes to download JAWS 17.0 or earlier but find they are unable to download the installer. 


Detail

Modern browsers such as Google Chrome, Edge and Firefox no longer support the FTP protocol for downloading files.  When clicking the link the browser thinks it should hand the job to another application because it no longer itself supports FTP.  

Resolution

  1. Open a browser to:  https://support.freedomscientific.com/Downloads/JAWS/PreviousVersions
  2. Navigate to the version drop down and press ALT+DOWN ARROW and select the JAWS version.
  3. Navigate to the drop down combo box and in similar fashion select Hypertext Transfer Protocol.
  4. Then activate either of the JAWS 17.0 download links to access the installer.
