Question mark symbol appears frequently in text from BBC website or newsletters

Problem

A problem has been identified with content from the BBC website or email newsletters where in some circumstances the text is interposed with frequently question mark symbols which break up the reading flow.

Affected products

  • JAWS

Details
• This problem has so far only been identified in JAWS but may possibly affect Fusion as well provided the speech engine being used is Eloquence.
• So far this problem is only identified with content from the BBC.

Resolution

  1. Press JAWSKey+J to open the JAWS window or context menu.
  2. Then select Options > Voices > Voice Adjustment.
  3. Then tab to the profile drop down box and change the selection to any non-Eloquence speech engine.
