Running your Freedom Scientific software on both the local and remote machines
Information
Some notes to help with install of Remote Access for Freedom Scientific speech and magnification software products.
Applies to
- JAWS screenreader
- Fusion magnifier/screenreader
Installation Notes
- If you have not done so already check system requirements for Remote Access client and server side.
- Check that the serial number you have has Remote Access added to it you can check on www.fsactivate.com and then choosing the link to get detailed information about the license.
- You must have the 20 digit ILM Authorisation number for the license you are attempting to deploy which will be used only on the local client side machine (the remote copy does not require authorisation).
- Remote access requires that a copy of the Freedom Scientific product is installed on the user client side and also on the the remote endpoint/server side. Remote Access cannot work properly without both copies running at the same time.
- As the Remote Access feature requires a TCP connection between the client and remote endpoint/server you shoudl make sure that certain ports are forwarded through any firewalling being used.
- You must activate the license only on the client computer as the copy running on the Remote endpoint/server will interrogate the client copy of the product for a license.
- When everything is instaslled you should run the product from the local machine on the user side. Then remote desktop or CITRIX session to reach out to the remote computer. Then run the remote copy of the Freedom Scientific product and the two should communicate, a license found and magnification/speech support is provided to the user on the local machine.
