Removing the ACPI battery driver to fix power/charging issues

Problem

You are having problems with either charging or power your laptop with the internal battery.

Resolution

A power/battery can sometime be due to incorrectly installed Windows drivers for the battery component. You can try getting it to reinstall to fix the issue.

  1. Right click Start menu and then choose “Device Manager”.
  2. In “Device manager” double click “Batteries”.
  3. In the drop-down list look for the item “Microsoft ACPI compliant control method battery” and right click.
  4. Then choose the option “Uninstall” and when prompted confirm uninstall of the battery component.
  5. Shut down and restart your laptop. Windows will then reinstall the battery driver and you can re-test if the problem is fixed.
