Inspiration activation error 9105 in a secure environment.

Problem

You receive the error number 9105 during activation of an Inspiration license. This may happen particularly in secure business/hospital/education environments where Internet connection is managed or protected by the organisation.

Resolution

To work around the issue you can carry out a manual offline activation. However you will need access to another Internet connected machine to do this.

On the PC with inspiration Installed:

  1. Open inspiration and then click on the Activate button.
  2. Then choose "Activate from another computer" button.
  3. Then enter license ID and Password you have been given and click "Next" button.
  4. You will then be prompted to save a file, choose "Desktop" or another convenient location to save the "request.html" file.

On a PC different internet connected PC:

  1. On a different PC with Internet access open the "Request.html" file and click the "Download" button.
  2. Then browse to the "response.xml" file location, typically this should you the "Downlaods" folder.
  3. Copy this file back to the first PC to somewhere like the desktop.

On the PC with Inspiration installed:

  1. Back on the PC to be activated copy the "response.xml" to "Downloads" or "Desktop" then Open inspiration.
  2. Then click "OK" at the dialogue prompt saying the activation process has already been started.
  3. Click "Browse" button and navigate to the location of the "response.xml" file it located and click "open" and then "next".
  4. You should then be greeted by a message saying that activation is successfully completed.
