SensePlayer – Audible app navigation hints


Problem

The Audible app layout is confusing to navigate.

Resolution

When using Android apps they will not follow the conventions of the built in SensePlayer apps provided by HIMS. Instead they are mainstream Android mobile apps which have a primarily visual interface layout that may not always make as much sense in speech.  For this reason it is worth understanding a little of how their user interface works.

These instructions are correct at the time of writing 08/11/2023. for the curent release of Audible but may change when Amazon update the app. 

 

Detail

  1. The Audible app has a context driven user interface where navigation tabs will change depending on the active screen.  For example before playing a book the tabs will reflect one set of controls but these change when you have the display open for the currently playing book. 
  2. A possible useful technique is to orient oneself at the top of the screen then work downwards, if you wish to close the book playing window you will encounter a link to do so and access the other features of the Audible app or carry on navigating downwards to activate one of the tabs relevant to the book currently playing.
Below are some useful shortcuts:
  1. Navigate between controls – left/right arrows
  2. Navigate top the top of screen = press numeric key 1
  3. Navigate te to the bottom of the screen = press numeric key 7
  4. To enter text press OK on the edit box, then enter text using T9 entry.
