SensePlayer – Download and play RNIB talking books

Problem

An RNIB Reading Services user wishes to play back their talking book title on SensePlayer.

Resolution

Users are advised to have the following items to hand before proceeding:
  1. An RNIB Reading Services account login.
  2. Access to a Windows PC with internet connection.
  3. The supplied USB cable supplied with the SensePlayer

Step 1 – Obtaining RNIB title

  1. Press ENTER on the following link or navigate to RNIB Reading Services login page:  https://readingservices.rnib.org.uk/Account/Login
  2. The enter your credentials to sign in.
  3. Search for your target title and bring up its details.
  4. Then locate and press enter on the download button to get the title. You may have to activate the Downloads Pending page to access the download.  A ZIP file will be downloaded of the chosen title.



Step 2 – Copying the title to SensePlayer

  1. Using the USB C cable supplied with the SensePlayer connect it to a Windows PC to access the internal fie system or attached SD card.
  2. Press WINDOWS+E to open Windows Explorer.
  3. Then press F4 to access the address bar then use UP/DOWN ARROW keys to find Downloads and press ENTER.  If downloads is not available type Downloads and press ENTER. 
  4. Press TAB until you get to the files list view.
  5. Use normal navigation keys to locate the title that has been downloaded.
  6. Then press CONTROL+C on the title to copy to clipboard.
  7. Press F4 to access address bar then use UP/DOWN ARROW keys to locate This PC and press ENTER or type This PC and press ENTER.
  8. Press TAB to reach the files list view area.
  9. Then use navigation keys to find SensePlayer and press ENTER.
  10. Then navigate to the drive/folder you wish to have contain the title and press ENTER.
  11. Then if necessary create a folder for your title to go into.
  12. Press CONTROL+V to page the title into the SensePlayer.
  13. Disconnect the player after copying has completed.

Step 3 – Playing the title on SensePlayer

  1. Press HOME key and open File Manager and press OK.
  2. Then navigate to the folder where the RNIB title has been placed.
  3. Press OK to start playback of the title.
