JAWS - Set up to announce tab indents in text editors
Problem
A customer wishes to have JAWS speak indent levels within a text editor app (for example proramming) where indent levels are important structure of code.
Resolution
The first step if to open Settings Centre with the intended application focused so that a new configuration is created.
- Then type “Scheme” without the quotes and down arrow to “speech and sound schemes”.
- Press SPACBER to cycle through to find the appropriate indent scheme.
- Tab to the “Apply” button and press spacebar.
- Then uses TAB/SHIF+TAB to navigate back to the search edit box.
- Then search “Indent and arrow down to select “Say indent characters”.
- Then use the SPACEBAR to activate the checkbox.
- Then press TAB to reach the “Apply” button and press spacebar on it.
- Then press ENTER to dismiss the dialogue.
