SmartVision 3 – Google assistant button does not works

Problem

A SmartVision 3 user encounters a problem when pressing the Google Assistant button on the right side panel of the unit no longer hear the confirmation sound, the action requested by the user also fails.

Resolution

Google changed the behaviour of it’s Google Assistant to include a visual element and a less definite acknowledgement of activation.  This appears to a deliberate design change made by Google.  The assistant still works but only with a light beep and vibration signal. The resolution below will restore the previous behaviour.

Tip!

1. It may be worth checking the Google Assistant settings to check if speech is set to Full setting. 

1. If the above suggestion fails to resolve the problem it may be necessary to reinstall the Google Assistant.

 

1. Open the Play Store application.
   
2. Use cursor keys to locate and then press OK to select, “Search on Google Play, Button” item.
   
3. Type “Google” in the search bar then press OK.
   
4. Then select "Google - Google LLC - Tools" from the list of applications and press OK.
   
5. Then Select “Uninstall” and press OK..
   
6. Confirm the uninstallation again by selecting "Uninstall" then press OK.
   
7. Wait a few moments then select "Update" and press OK..
   
8. Wait a few minutes then try again with the voice button.
