SmartVision 3 – Initial setup
Problem
A SmartVision 3 user has a phone they just received or has just been reset and needs to work through the initial prompts and wizards.
Resolution
When the SmartVision 3 first starts the user is invited to enroll themselves onto the phone by proceeding through a number of prompts.
Note
- If the user already has a Goggle Account we recommend having the details handy for this account during phone set up.
- This document assumes that if one is restoring from a backup that this is one from the Google Account.
- If no backup is available one can choose to skip that portion of the setup.
- Press power button at the top of the phone to switch on.
- Once the phone has started for the first time it will then display Welcome to Talkback screen. This may also be the case if the phone has recently undergone a factory reset. Press the UP/DOWN keys to reach the Next button and press OK.
- After proceeding through the Talkback tutorial use UP/DOWN keys to navigate to Next or Close buttons. then press OK.
- At the Hello screen press DOWN key until you reach Start button and press OK.
- On the next screen the user is invited to connect to a Wi-Fi network, press UP/DOWN keys to locate the required network to connect to (typically your home Wi-Fi) then press OK.
- On the next screen a blank edit box appears. Press UP/DOWN keys to highlight the blank edit field in yellow and press OK.
- In the blank edit box you can enter the network key. Press Star key to the left of 0 on the numeric pad to switch between keyboard entry modes listed below:
Normal - Enters lowercase letters
Capitals Enters uppercase letters
Numbers - Enters numbers and symbols
- Enter the password using T9 style text entry, for symbols toggle the keyboard mode to numbers and press 1 repeatedly to access the correct symbol eg full stop or @ sign, then press OK.
- On the Copy Apps and Data screen press UP/DOWN key to select either Next or Don’t Copy buttons as appropriate to the situation then press OK.
- At the Bring Your Data From screen you have three selections you will be asked to make. Depending on if a backup exists or is not available choose one of the options offered, use UP/DOWN keys to find the desired option then press OK:

A Google backup from the cloud
An iPhone device
- Assuming a backup to Google Account has already been created already, choose A Google backup from the cloud option, when you do you will be prompted to sign in with Google Account Credentials and authenticate to gain access to the account. Remember that switching to Numbers with star key and pressing 1 repeatedly will gain access to symbols like @ sign. Then press UP/DOWN keys to navigate to Next button, then press OK.
- After entering the email address you will be prompted for the account password, press OK on the edit box when highlighted in yellow, then enter the password in similar fashion to the email address.
- After signing in you will be greeted by a confirmation screen to grant access to the account, press DOWN key to Yes, I’m In button then press OK. A second confirmation may also appear that needs to be acknowledged in the same way.
- Then at the Restore Data From Old Phone select the backup made from the SmartVision 3 phone if restoring a previous backup.
- On the next screen you can view and change which data to restore, usually it is best to restore all data back to the phone leaving options unchanged and going straight down to Restore button and press OK.
- Another screen will appear asking to confirm data and time, make any amendments here then press DOWN key to Next and press OK.
- A Google Services screen will appear proving choices, press DOWN key to the Accept button and press OK.
- On the choose your Search Provider, use UP/DOWN keys to select desired search provider. You can mark more than one if desired.
- On the next screen you are invited to set a phone PIN, either enter a PIN number and confirm it or use UP/DOWN key to select Skip button and press OK. Some users may find using a PIN too difficult initially or may forget their PIN. If you set a PIN it will be required to unlock the phone when it goes to stand by. If you decide not to set a PIN you will be prompted by a message box to confirm this.
- At the Access Your Assistant With Google, it is recommended to use DOWN key to locate the I Agree button and press OK so that you may use your voice for the Google assistant.
- You will then be asked to enrol with Voice Assistant, press UP/DOWN key to locate Agree button and press OK to continue.
- At the Anything Else? screen response is optional and one can choose No Thanks to complete setup and press OK to exit Google enrolment.
Note
If phone PIN lock has been declined the user may set this at a later time by going to MENU > Settings > Security > Screen lock > PIIN,
