SmartVision 3 - Installing SIM and SD memory cards

Problem

A SmartVision 3 user needs to install their SIM and memory cards.

Resolution

Please follow the directions below for installing SIM/SD cards.  This can be a fiddly operation which may require sighted help.

  1. Removing SIM tray:  Lay the SmartVision 3 on a flat surface face up with charge port and numeric pad nearest you.  Then carefully attempt to find the hole for the SIM tool to go into the hole on the left side casing of the phone.  Make sure the SIM extraction tool properly located into the ejection hole to avoid damaging the unit. With the tool located in gently push to release the tray but to nod try to obstruct the passage of the tray being released.  Once released gently pull the tray away from the body of the phone taking care to keep it level.
  2. The SIM tray description:  The tray has a left and right compartments.  The left compartment may have either a SIM module or optionally a micro SD storage card.  The right compartment will only accept a SIM module.  Both SIM modules if installed are installed in the same orientation.
  3. Card SD/SIM slot (left):  Gently insert with SIM card contact side down aligning the bevelled corner on the bottom right.  When installing an SD card in the left tray please lay it contact side down with the bevelled edge aligned bottom right.
  4. Card SIM slot 2 (right): The second slot will only accept a SIM card which is in the same orientation as for slot on the left with SIM contact side down and bevelled edge on bottom right.
  5. Reinstalling SIM tray:  With cards successfully mounted gently reinsert the SIM tray all the way into the slot taking care to keep the tray level as you do so.   The tray should slide in flush with the phon casing on the left side and should not protrude.

Supplementary information

  1. When two SIM cards are installed it does not matter which cards are installed where.  Configuration and management of SIM cards is done via the phone's menu system via Settings > Application > Network and Internet.
