JAWS - Switch JAWS keyboard layout

Problem

A customer wishes to switch JAWS keyboard layout because their machine does not have a number or they wish to free up the number pad for other tasks. 


Resolution


Note
It is possible to use either desktop or laptop layout regardless of machine type being used. A frequent application is to set desktop keyboard layout for laptop users when they use a desktop keyboard to avoid problems with laptop keyboards.

  1. Press ALT+TAB or JAWSKey+J to reach JAWS window.
  2. Press ALT+O to open Options menu.
  3. Then choose Basics by pressing ENTER.
  4. Than tab to "keyboard layout" drop down and press down arrow to select "laptop".
  5. TAB to OK button and press ENTER.
