JAWS - Thunderbird email client adjustments for JAWS users
A customer new to Thunderbird email client may need to make some adjustments so that the experience is more similar to that of the Microsoft equivalent offerings. This involves some changes to the default settings.
Resolution
Please use one of the two sets of steps below depending on how you use the computer.
Method 1 - Using a mouse
- In Thunderbird open Tools > Preferences
- Then in the search box enter “Window” without the quotes.
- Then change the setting for “Open messages in” to the “A new window” setting.
Method 2 - Using the keyboard
- In Thunderbird press ALT+T and press up arrow to Preference then press ENTER.
- Press TAB to reach the search box, then search “Window” without the quotes.
- Then use arrow keys or TAB to get to “open Messages in” setting.
- When on the radio button use arrow to select “A new Window” option.
- Press CONTROL+W when finished adjusting settings.
