UEB and computer Braille entry tips for HIMS Polaris and BrailleSense 6 notetakers

Information

By default both Polaris and BrailleSense 6 notetakers assume entry is in UEB although it is possible to switch between codes using the SPACE+G shortcut. In some circumstances where critical information like wi-fi passwords or email address you may need to pay particular attention to how Braille is entered.

UEB text entry

Consider the entry example for UEB: Stu14td
* Dot 6 before letter S to denote capitals.
* Number sign dot3456 before 14 in the string
* Dot56 letter sign to indicate return to letters.

Input @ sign for Email addresses

@ sign = Dot 4 followed by dot 1 (UEB input)
@ sign = space-U followed by dot 4 (computer Braille)

Entering Wi-Fi ior other critical information using Computer Braille

  1. Press space+U for one capital letter,
  2. Press space+U twice for more than one, press space with U twice (this is like turning capslock on).
  3. To finish entering block capitals press space+U again.off.
