Microsoft - Check for Office updates

Problem

You need to update Microsoft Office to fix a problem.

Resolution

Microsoft Office has a built in automatic update mechanism built in.  Please use the steps to use this to update the installed copy of Microsoft Office software.


Attention!
In some organisations you may not be able to update to the latest version because they control Microsoft Office updates.  Contact the IT admin staff for further assistance.

Method 1 - Using a mouse

  1. Open any office app by clicking its icon or launch by searching for the app to open it.
  2. Click File > Account or Office Account.
  3. Then click Update Options > Update Now button and follow the instructions.  You may then be asked to exit all Office apps for the update to complete.


Method 2 - Using the keyboard (JAWS/Fusion)

This alternative method will allow JAWS and Fusion users to update Microsoft Office using keystrokes instead of the mouse.

  1. Open any Microsoft Office app as normal.
  2. Then press ALT+F to open File menu and down arrow to Account or Office Account and press ENTER.
  3. Then press TAB key until you reach the Update Options button and press SPACEBAR on it.
  4. Then select the option Update Now by pressing ENTER on it.
  5. Then follow the instructions in the update wizard to update. You may then be asked to exit all Office apps for the update to complete.
