Use Outlook /cleanviews start-up switch to fix list view reading problems with JAWS or Fusion

Problem

When using Microsoft Outlook with JAWS the emails list view may not read certain items when you move the highlight bar through the list even though the elements are showing.

  • JAWS
  • Fusion

Resolution

The problem may be corrupted view settings in Outlook that is causing the trouble. You can attempt to resolve this by resetting the Outlook views. You may have to reinstate any user customisations after using these steps.

  1. Close Outlook if it is currently running.
  2. Press WINDOWS+R and then enter the command below and press ENTER:
    Outlook.exe /cleanviews
  3. When the enter key is pressed the above command will then reset the Outlook views. After this has taken place re-test with JAWS or Fusion.
