FS Auth - Using a dongle license

Problem

A customer requires information on the use of the USB authorisation dongle for Freedom Scientific products.

Detail

A dongle is a physical device plugged into a free USB port that provides an alternative portable authorisation for Freedom Scientific software products.

Resolution

Pleases review the information below on installing the USB dongle to function with Freedom Scientific software products.

Dongle installation

  1. Install the Freedom Scientific product JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion as normal (Please DO NOT attempt to use the dongle yet).
  2. Restart the computer after conducting the installation.
  3. Whilst the computer is restarting you can then plug in the dongle.
  4. JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion installations provide all the necessary drivrs for the dongle.
  5. Once running JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion will attempt to detect and authorise from the dongle authorisation found on the PC.
Below is a screenshot showing correctly installed dongle driver in Device Manager.




Note

In some secure environments USB connection is blocked for security reasons. This must be disabled in order to allow dongle authorisation to be detected.
