JAWS - Using keyboard help mode

Problem

A JAWS customer wishes to explore the functions of JAWS in a safe way.  


Application

There are two applications for using the feature:

  • As designed it allows the user to press any combination of command keys for JAWS and hear their function.
  • As a tool to help with general keyboard orientation.


Resolution

• If using a desktop keyboard Hold down the NUMBER PAD INSERT key and press number 1 on the number row above the QWERTY layout.
• If using a laptop hold CAPSLOCK and NUMBER ROW 1 above the QWERTY layout.
Turn off keyboard help Press INSERT+NUMBER ROW 1 or CAPSLOCK NUMBER ROIW 1 to disengage keyboard help mode and return to normal operation.
