FS Support - Using LogManUI tool to collect diagnostic information

Problem

A customer using JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion software encounters a problem that can be reproduced predictably needs to submit logs to Freedom Scientific.

Resolution

This document provides information how to run and use the LogManUI utilities to provide diagnostic information back to Freedom Scientific for Technical Support.

Note
These steps are intended to for Technicians or other Support personnel to assist with the gathering of diagnostic information.

  1. Press WINDOWS+R or right click Start button and choose “Run” command and copy/paste the command shown below to open LogManUI application:
C:\Program Files\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\2022\Support\LogManUI.exe

Note
Adjust the above example for year/version and product currently instralled.

  1. Click the Log Level drop and set this to “Verbose” level.
  2. Start the Freedom Scientific software JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion if it is not already running.

Note
If the problem being encountered is a startup issue run LogManUI prior to running the Freedom Scientific product so the problem can be captured.

  1. Then click the Start Logging button to begin logging the fault.
  2. Now carry out the actions that provoke the fault behaviour so it occurs.
  3. When those steps are completed navigate back to LogManUI app and click Stop Logging button.
  4. Then run the FS Support tool:
  • From JAWS window > Help > FS Support Tool.
  • From ZoomText window > ZoomText menu > ZoomText Support > Tools > FS Support Tool
  • From Fusion window > Fusion menu > Fusion Support > Tools > FS Support Tool
  1. Click the Continue button in the FS Support Tool dialogue.
  2. After the tool has finished gathering information choose the link the “Send report manually” link so that it opens the explorer window where the report ZIP file is highlighted.
  3. Drag this to a convenient location and send by email or upload to Microsoft OneDrive or similar service and sent us the link.
