FS Auth - What happens when customers are unable to use a Sentinel server for a network JAWS license
Problem
A Network License customer is unable to use Sentinel Network License in their organisation due to technical reasons.
Detail
some organisation networks may find it impractical to deploy a Sentinel Server to host their license due to Technical Reasons. The document below explores other options.
Resolution
Where it is determined that a network license cannot be used the license can undergo conversion to non-network type. Once this is done a Sentinel server will no longer be required and installation scenario resembles that of single user license versions.
- License – when conversion takes place each network user seat is given its own stand alone ILM code. The following points summarize how this process works.
- Charges - if the conversion is carried out only once conversion is usually carried out without charge but if the end user subsequently needs to switch back to network this may be chargeable.
- Seats – when a network license is converted to non-network each seat is given its own ILM code with 1 activation. It can then be treated much as a single user installation scenario.
- Activation resets - if the installation for a given activated seat has needs to be reinstalled on a new machine a reset needs to be carried out to allow activation again. Contact Sight and Sound should be contacted for assistance wit the relevant serial number and ILM code for the seats.
