When downloading a non-Microsoft app you prompted to get the Store app.

When downloading a non-Microsoft app you prompted to get the Store app.

Problem

When running an installer downloaded from the internet a message is posted recommending you should use the Microsoft Store app and are presented a button to Get the app rather than accessing the download.

Application

This may apply in situations where you are downloading a Zoho remote support client.

Resolution

  1. When you are prompted to download from Microsoft store click “change app recommendations” button.
  2. Then click the drop down control below the text "installing apps only from the Microsoft Store helps protect your device "and select “anywhere”.
  3. After this close the Settings app window.
From now on when you download an app you should be able to run it without being prompted to get the Microsoft Store app.  Always be careful what app you are downloading.
