When using Word document JAWS is announcing “revised” whilst editing a document

Problem

When you are navigating or editing a document JAWS is announcing the word “revised”.

Resolution

  • If the document has been received from another party the reason may be that they have enabled track changes at their end and have made edits to a document that you may wish to review leave the settings on and consult in JAWS and Microsoft Word online help regarding use of track changes.
  • If the document is created solely by one individual you may just want to disable the track changes announcements by JAWS.

Disabling track changes announcement in JAWS.

  1. Whilst focused in Microsoft Word press JAWSKey+V to open Quick Settings.
  2. Then search “Track” and down arrow to “Track changes”
  3. Press spacebar to toggles this around to off.
  4. Press TAB to reach Apply button and press spacebar.
  5. Then press ENTER to dismiss the dialogue.
