Windows - Check for Windows 10/11 updates

Information

Below steps will allow a customer to update their Windows software.

Explanation
Microsoft generally schedule regular updates for the second Tuesday of every month. Emergency security and maintenance updates may be released out of band. Therefore manually checking for updates if there are particular issues with the computer system.

Steps

  1. Click Start button and then “Settings” cog wheel icon.
  2. Then click “Update and security” and “Windows Update” in the left hand category panel.
  3. Then click “Update” button.
  4. You can close the “Windows Update” window once you see it is downloading updates and carry on working. Remember to check the updates are completed and restart the machine for them to take effect.
Optional/driver updates

Windows may offer optional or driver updates, these may be taken if the computer system is experiencing particular problems
