Windows: restart to command prompt

Information:

The instructions below will let users access the command prompt to issue diagnostic commands or in some cases allow testing of the keyboard in safe mode.

Windows 10:
1. Open Start menu and choose the cog wheel settings button.
2. Choose Update and Security, then choose Recovery on the left hand side of the new window.
3. On the right hand side under Advanced Startup click the Restart Now button.
4. The PC/Laptop will then restart. Choose the Troublshoot and then Advanced Options.
5. Then choose Command Prompt.
6. Then pick your account name and then enter any password for the account that is requested.
7. You will then be put at the command prompt.

After reaching this point either enter any commands required or test the letter keys that were not working before and report findings to Technical Support.
