Wireless charging issues

Information

The information below has come out of a discussion with Harpo about the use of the wireless charging cradle. The symptom is that user intends the keyboard to charge on the wirelss cradle but when they come to use it the keyboard is completely discharged.

The conclusions could be the following:

  • Wireless charging may take a long time so may not be preferrable if heavily used.
  • You can charge over USB.
  • In case of problems check the charge status on keyboard and listen out for charging sounds immediately after placiing keyboard in charging cradle.

The most likely cause of this problem is a complete keyboard discharge. Keyboard can be charged using USB cable with any USB compatible charger or wirelessly whet it its put into its cradle in front of Mountbatten Brailler. Wireless charging takes a lot of time (up to 12 hours) and Mountbatten Tutor have to be powered on all the time.

To check keyboard battery state push Space+K combination and keyboard should issue one long up to four short beeps (depending on battery charge). If it is charged it will also issue two little higher sounds afterwards. Mountbatten should also say "Keyboard charging" if charge state changed from off to on state and keyboard is not in sleep state.

If keyboard is not connected to USB you can hear short sound signals after it is put into its cradle in the middle of the device and also "Keyboard charging" message if charging started.

So, please ask the customer if he/she can hear these sounds and ask for charging the keyboard using any USB charger for few hours and test.
