Resolution

The following tips are derrived from consultation with Harpo the developer to help customers who are experiencing problems using the wireless charging feature of the keyboard.

Charing tips

  • Please monitor for the different charging sounds immediately after placiing keyboard in charging cradle on the front of the MBT base unit.
  • Wireless charging may take a long time so may not be preferrable where the unit is very heavily used.  A faster and more reliable method would be to charge using a USB C cable instead.

Check battery status

Press Space+K chord on the Braille keyboard, it should then report status by means of up to four short beeps (depending on battery charge). If it is charged it will also issue two little higher sounds afterwards. Mountbatten should also say "Keyboard charging" if charge state changed from off to on state and keyboard is not in sleep state.

If keyboard is not connected to USB you can hear short sound signals after it is put into its cradle in the middle of the device and also "Keyboard charging" message if charging started.

So, please ask the customer if he/she can hear these sounds and ask for charging the keyboard using any USB charger for few hours and test.
