ZoomText - Missing components startup error (2020)

Problem

Upon launching ZoomText 2020 an error is posted at startup running on Windows 10 21H1.  The error states "ZoomText program components are missing".



Resolution

Please check the following points before proceeding with the suggested solution below.
• Please try downloading a fresh ZoomText 2020 installer and conduct a repair installation using it to fix the problem.
• If this fails try removing all the Microsoft C++ redistributable and run the repair again to have ZoomText installer put them back and check again.

If all the above fail use the steps below:

  1. Remove all copies of ZoomText from the system and restart.
  2. Then download the Fusion 2020 installer from www.freedomscientific.com and run this installer and restart when requested.
  3. On the next reboot Fusion will start, check that is does so properly including magnification and then close it down again.
  4. Run the ZoomText portion of Fusion only from the desktop and check this works. Authorise with ZoomText license if required.
  5. Set auto-start and magnification options as required by user.
  6. If all is well, delete the JAWS and Fusion icons from the desktop.
  7. Do a final restart and check all is well.
