ZoomText - Dongle version software installation FAQ

A customer has a ZoomText version and has questions that may be answered in this FAQ.
Resolution
I have a ZoomText dongle is but there is nothing on the dongle to install with?
A: The ZoomText dongle does not contain any software but is purely an authorization dongle. If you have an authorization only dongle you will likely be using ZoomText version 2018 or later.
Does the dongle require a different software download?
A: No, you can use the normal software downloads.
When should I plug in the dongle?
A: It is important that you do not plug in the dongle before the Zoomtext or Fusion product is installed. If the dongle is plugged in before the software (which contains the relevant drivers for the dongle) the Windows system will install the wrong drivers and the dongle will not function as intended.
If I upgrade to a later version what happens about the dongle?
A: If you have purchased an upgrade for your serial number a dongle update file will need to be requested for you. Please contact Technical Support with the serial number for help with this.
What if a dongle is lost?
A: A replacement can be purchased from Sight and Sound. Please contact sales for pricing.
