ZoomText/Fusion - DirectX 11 support and Magnification Engine 2026

A customer with ZoomText/Fusion 2025.2506 or later is having problems with magnification performance.

Resolution

Freedom Scientific are trialling their new Magtnification Engine 2026 in ZoomText/Fusion 2025 builds.  This provides DirectX 11 support.  This support can be enabled via the Early Adopter Programme dialogue under the Help menu.  It is designed to provide the following benefits:

  1. Reduces memory and resource usage
  2. Improves compatibility with multiple 4K monitors and modern graphics cards
  3. Enhances support for current and future development, which ensures a more responsive and reliable user experience.

Detailed steps

  1. From the ZoomText or Fusion menu, choose Help > Early Adopter Program.
  2. In the Early Adopter Program dialog, select Magnification Engine 2026.
  3. Click OK and restart the software. The magnification engine and DirectX 11 are now available for use.
If necessary here is a link to download and install the 2025.2506 after they uninstall the current version.
