ZoomText/Fusion - DirectX 11 support and Magnification Engine 2026

Problem

A customer with ZoomText/Fusion 2025.2506 or later is having problems with magnification performance.

Resolution

Freedom Scientific are trialling their new Magtnification Engine 2026 in ZoomText/Fusion 2025 builds.  This provides DirectX 11 support.  This support can be enabled via the Early Adopter Programme dialogue under the Help menu.  It is designed to provide the following benefits:

  1. Reduces memory and resource usage
  2. Improves compatibility with multiple 4K monitors and modern graphics cards
  3. Enhances support for current and future development, which ensures a more responsive and reliable user experience.

Detailed steps

  1. Click the ZoomText taskbar button or press OCNTROL+CAPSLOCK+U to open the ZoomText window.
  2. From the ZoomText or Fusion menu, choose Help > Early Adopter Program.
  3. In the Early Adopter Program dialog, select the checkbox Magnification Engine 2026.
  4. Then select OK button, you may then neeed to respond to a prompt to allow Zoomtext to restart.  After the restart ZoomText will have the new 2026 magnification engine running.
