ZoomText/Fusion – Enable the new xFont smoothing in version 2024
Problem
A ZoomText/Fusion 2024 customer experiences poor font smoothing
in Microsoft Office applications.
Resolution
- From version 2024.2312 ZoomText/Fusion has newly refactored
magnification engine that supports better font smoothing, to enable this support one must enable it in the Early Adopter Program dialogue UI.
- From version 2024.2403 ZoomText xFont is enabled by default and will work with Microsoft Office 365 installations version 2307 and later.
- Please use the steps
below to enable this feature.

Freedom Scientific inform us that work is currently ongoing to roll out similar quality
smoothing to the major browsers during the 2024 cycle.
1. Click
on the ZoomText/Fusion window or press CONTROL+CAPSLOCK+U to open the main
window.
2. Then click Zoomtext > Help > Early Adopter
Program.
3. Then select the checkbox xFont
for Office 365.
Note:
If you clear the check box, you turn off xFont functionality for
Office 365.
4. Click OK and
restart the software.
5. Restart
any Office 365 apps that are running. The xFont smoothing should now available when using Outlook 365, Word 365, and Excel
365.
Note:
When you enable xFont using the
Early Adopter Program, it automatically enables xFont smoothing in the
Smoothing tab of the Preferences dialog box.
