Zoomtext/Fusion - Manual offline activation

An end user or IT Technician is running into difficulty with automatic internet activation of their product.

In many businesses and organisations the IT infrastructure has security that may prevent online automatic activation of the ZoomText/Fusion product. In such case the best advice is to use the manual offline activation method shown below. You will need to log in as administrator for activation be successful, this may require the help of the local IT staff.
- Start ZoomText/Fusion normally if not already running so that it can prompt for activation.
- Then click "Start Activation" then click "Manual activation" radio button.
- On the next screen take down the "locking code" number and fill out the authorisation number with the 20 digit code for you license.
- Click the link below to visit the activation website: https://fsactivate.freedomscientific.com/Activation/RetrieveActivationLicenseCode
- Enter the 20 digit ILM authorization number and locking code into the edit fields and click "Submit" button.
- The next page will display your your license code, you can click the "Copy code" button or highlight and copy the license code up to and including the # sign.
- Return to the ZoomText/Fusion activation wizard and paste in the "activation license code" edit area within the ZoomText/Fusion activation window.
- Now click "Next" and you will be notified if activation has been successful.
Confirm successful product activation
- Click the ZoomText/Fusion button on the taskbar or press CONTROL+CAPSLOCK+U to open the main window.
- Depending on the version of ZoomText or Fusion open the About box to check the serial number for the license is present.
- Then click ZoomText/Fusion > About ZoomText (version 2018 - 2023) or ZoomText/Fusion > Help > About ZoomText/Fusion.
- In the About dialogue verify the serial number for the new license shows, if 801 or another 3 digit number is displayed authorisation has not been successful.
Problems launching Activation Wizard?
For customers who do not see the activation prompt and software is showing 801 for serial number or running as demo can start the authorisation process using the methods below.
Method 1 – via the ZoomText interface
- Press CONTROL+CAPSLOCK+U or click the ZoomText button to open the main window.
- Then click the ZoomText menu and choose Manage License > Update Authorization.
- Click Start and scroll through all programs to find “ZoomText [year/version]” eg. ZoomText 2022 or ZoomText 2023 and click it.
- Then click the sub group Utilities – ZoomText and in the new window double click Start Activation.
Method 3 – using the Windows run command
- Press WINDOWSKEY+R then enter the full path below and click OK to run the ZoomText activation wizard:
"C:\Program Files\Freedom Scientific\Shared\Authorization Tools\7.0\fsClientActivator.exe". - From here one can then interact with the wizard to activate the software.
