ZoomText - Keyboard software downloads by generation

Problem

A customer has a ZoomText keyboard and needs to download the correct ZoomText Keyboard software to go with it.

Resolution

In order for the ZoomText keyboard feature keys to work as expected the corresponding software for that keyboard version must be installed an authorised. 

Note

The keyboard will work as a normal desktop keyboard without the keyboard software.

ZoomText Keyboard v4

The version 4 keyboard is identifiable by having no separate keys for Zoomtext functions. Instead if the user requires a ZoomText function they must hold the key for 0.5 seconds otherwise the keys will function as standard. Serial number required.

Change press/hold time for triggering feature keys

1. ZoomText Keyboard Settings (from system tray).
2. At the bottom of the dialog box is the drop down to change the number of seconds (options are 1, 2 or 3 seconds).

• You can disable “Display the feature key banner (when the mode is active)”.

1. ZoomText Keyboard Settings (from system tray).
2. Click the Other Settings… button.
3. Uncheck “Display the feature key banner (when the mode is active)”.
   Note:
   You can also change the banner size, colour and location here.

ZoomText Keyboard v3

Version 3 keyboards were sold from 2013 onwards. These have 12 function keys at the top.

Note
International keyboards have Symbols rather than function names written.

ZoomText Keyboard v2

ZoomText v2 keyboards were sold before early-mid 2013 and have 18 ZoomText function keys at the top.
