ZoomText - Loss of magnification after updating to Windows 11 24H2

Problem

After Windows 11 updates to version 24H2 Zoomtext magnification stops working.

Resolution

This problem is fixed in ZoomText 2025 October release.  We are also informed there may be updates for ZoomText 2023 and 2024 released some time in November 2024.  In the mean time the following advice may be given for those experiencing similar problems with ZoomText 2024 and earlier. 

ZoomText 2024 or later

ZoomText 2025 is unaffected by the problem.  An update to ZoomText 2024 is planned for release mid to late November, to workaround the problem use the steps below to restore magnification in the meantime.

  1. In the ZoomText menu, choose Help > Advanced > Display Adapter. The Display Adapter dialog appears.
  2. Select Compatibility mode/Magnification API.
  3. Select OK and then YES to restart ZoomText for the change to take effect.


ZoomText 2023 or earlier

An update for ZoomText 2023 has been released November 2024 to address this issue.  This update will be offered to users via the auto-update mechanism.  Alternatively one may download either ZoomText update builds below:
