ZoomText - Set up speech indicate capitalization when reading text

Problem

A customer using like to set ZoomText up to indicate when reading uppercase text.

Applies to

  1. ZomText

Resolution

The steps below will allow you to control how capitalis are anounced when reviewing text from the screen using LEFT/RIGHT arrow keys in a document as opposed to entering text which is keyboard echo.

Using the mouse

  1. Click the ZoomText taskbar button or system tray icon to open the ZoomText main window.
  2. Then click Reader tab, and click the down arrow to open the Speech button and choose Settings.
  3. Click the Hints tab and then click the either one of the two options below as appropriate:

    - Use pitch to indicate capitals
    - Say 'Cap' before reading  a capital

  4. When done click OK button.
  5. Then click ZoomText menu > Configuration Settings > Save As Default, then click Yes when prompted to overwrite.

Using the keyboard

  1. Press control+shift+U to open the ZoomText may program window.
  2. Ten press ALT, R, V, S to open the speech settings.
  3. Then press control+tab to reach the Hints tab.
  4. Then press UP?DOWN ARROW keys to select either of the two options below as apropriate to need: 

    Raise pitch to indicate capitals
    Say 'cap' before Reading A Capital

  5. Then TAB to OK button and press SPACEBAR on it.
  6. Then press ALT followed by Z and DOWN ARROW to Settings and press ENTER, then press ENTER on Save As Default.
  7. Then press ENTER on Yes button.
