ZoomText/Fusion – No visible Magnification
Problem
A ZoomText or Fusion user encounters a problem where after launch no magnification is visible.
Applies to
- ZoomText/Fusion
Resolution
- Unless a ZoomText/Fusion user specifically desires no magnification in its default state the product should normally launch and provide magnification.
- If the product does not provide magnification upon launching one may try the methods below to re-establish magnification.
Using the mouse
- Click the ZoomText or fusion tab on the windows taskbar.
- Then click ZoomText/Fusion menu (on the left) then select Enable ZoomText/Fusion in the menu.
- Then click the plus button within the magnification to 1.2x or higher to confirm magnification is indeed active.
Use hotkeys
- Use hotkey CONTROL+CAPSLOCK+ENTER: This hotkey will toggle on or off magnification. The intended result is that magnification is restored or is whown to be enabled (white background to main program window).
- Press CAPSLOCK+UP ARROW to increasing magnification to 1.2x or higher to confirm magnification is being provided.
If magnification cannot be restored using with of the above steps then there may be a technical problem with the software.
Example views of ZoomText/Fusion window
Below show ZoomText/Fusion when enabled and disabled. In the second example the window shows a grey background where the window should show a white background to signify magnification is enabled.

Note
- If magnification is set to 1x power no magnification will be display regardless of which state ZoomText/Fusion is operating but the window colour should show as per above.
- On systems where hi-contrast display has been enabled in Windows it may not be easily possible to make a determination on window colour alone.
