ZoomText – Using Display Adapter Settings utility to resolve magnification problems


Problem

A customer has experiences problems with magnification in ZoomText.

Resolution

Some ZoomText/Fusion magnification problems respond to changes made in the Display Adaptor settings app..  The Display Adapter Settings utility can be used to change this behaviour to see of the problem may be resolved. 
  1. If magnification appears but is not behaving properly try setting resetting it to Let ZoomText decide first.
  2. If no magnification output is seen at all, this may indicate the overlay is being drawn on the wrong video adapter; try using Specific Adapter option and select another video adapter if one is available and re-test.
  3. If when clicking on elements magnified do respond to be clicked or something other than which has been activated instead this may be because it is set to compatibility mode, try select any of the alternative modes to see if it helps with the problem.

 

Opening Display Adaptor Settings app 

  1. Click Start button and search or scroll to find any of the items below depending on installed version of ZoomText.

    Utilities - ZoomText 2024 > Change Display Adapter Settings app.
    Utilities - ZoomText 2023 > Change Display Adapter Settings app.
    Utilities - ZoomText 2022 > Change Display Adapter Settings app.

  2. In the app click the radio buttons to select changes and test with each:

    Let ZoomText Decide (Default)
    First available (video card name)
    Compatibility mode (Magnification API used)
    Specific adapter

  3. After selecting the desired option click OK button and re-test ZoomText.

 

Note

If after selecting Compatibility Mode the end user has trouble with activating interface items that don’t run or respond this may indicate compatibility mode will not be the solution.
