JAWS - New user activation (ILM)

Problem

A new or existing JAWS customer needs to activate their JAWS product.

Detail

The JAWS software requires activation before it can be operated as a full license.  Once a sale has been processed an email from Sight and Sound will provide the serial number and ILM Authorization code together with a download link.  During activation the user will be required to enter the 20 digit ILM authorization code to activate their software.

Resolution

  1. For customers in a domestic setting who own and use their own computer in most cases will be able to activate their software using the automatic internet activation method steps below.
  2. Customers using their computer in connection with work and where the computer is managed by and organisation and IT staff assistance may be required to activate JAWS manually.

  1. When JAWS posts the activation dialogue respond by pressing SPACEBAR or ENTER on the "Update authorisation" button.
  2. On the next screen make sure the option Internet (RECOMMENDED) is set using the UP/DOWN ARROW keys, then press ENTER.
  3. On the next screen the 20 digit authorisation is requested, please enter it into the edit box and press ENTER to continue.  
  4. When the ILM code has been entered press ENTER to continue with activation.
  5. After a short while JAWS will inform the user that activation has been successfully completed press ENTER on the "Finish" button.

Note
Should JAWS fail to display an activation dialogue one can launch it manually via > Help > Manage License > Update authorisation with in the JAWS window or context menu.
