BrailleSense 6 – Using Google Play store app to Install Android apps

Problem

A BrailleSense 6 customer needs to install a third party app using Google Play store app.

Applies to

  1. BrailleSense 6/BrailleSense 6 Mini

Resolution

An alternative to using the App Installer is to use the Play Store app which can be a convenient way to add third party Android apps to the BrailleSense 6 notetaker.  A Google Account is required and you will be prompted to sign into it the first time you use the Play store app.

  1. Press F1 to open the Start menu.
  2. Then use space-4 or space-1 to navigate to Play Store and press ENTER.  You may also jump straight into the Play Store from the main menu by pressing P.
  3. If it is your first time you may then be prompted to sign into the Play Store if not already signed in.
  4. Press TAB (F3) or shift-Tab (space-F3) to locate the search edit box.  You can also press letter S to get to the ‘Search for apps and games’ edit box.
  5. Then press ENTER to start editing in the search box.
  6. Then enter text for your search and press ENTER.
  7. Then use TAB or letter I to locate the Install button and press ENTER.  You can use SHIFT+TAB and then TAB to check the progress of the app download.
When finished exit the Play Store app and open Start menu and launch the app from within the Program menu.
