FS Auth - Check dongle version authorisation

Problem

You wish to check version and serial number info for a Freedom Scientific dongle license product.

Applies to

  1. JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion

Resolution

In situations where dongle authorisation is not working for a product it is best to obtain information from the attached USB dongle to check the serial number and the version it is allows:

  1. Press windows key to open Start menu and search as appropriately as below for your product to update and press ENTER to open the result as appropriate to the installed product:

    Utilities – JAWS (for JAWS/Fusion products)
    Utilities – ZoomText (for ZoomText products)
    Utilities - Fusion (for Fusion products

  2. The open Dongle Viewer to read off license info, if this is in connection with a current support query please provide this information to Technical Support.

Gathering key information

If you are engaged on a Technical Support enquiry please gather the following information:
  1. The number reported to the right of Serial number
  2. Version number to the right of Last Rel Allowed

Shown below is a sample of a report for JAWS, highlighted in yellow are the information that is most relevant:

No dongle authorisation found

In some cases one may encounter problems where no authorisation has been found.  Where this is the cases it may mean either of the following are true: 
  1. The USB dongle is not connected to the system when Dongle Viewer has been run.
  2. No information can be detected from the dongle because the wrong driver is in use.  Please refer to Dongle license not detected for help with resolving the problem.
