Information

This document provides information regarding the ending of support and retirement of Internet Explorer.

Current position

  1. Microsoft announced intentions to retire Internet Explorer in 2021 starting with announcement that its 365 services would no longer support the browser after 15/06/2022.
  2. Microsoft has put in place redirection notices to use Microsoft Edge when IE11 is opened by the user.
  3. Microsoft have also indicated that the browser may be completely disabled sometime after the June 15th date.
  4. Windows 11 already has disabled Internet Explorer 11.

The operating systems below will also disable the browser at an unspecified time after 15/06/2022:

• Windows 8.1
• Windows 7 Extended Security Updates (ESU)
• Windows Server SAC (all versions)
• Windows 10 IoT Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) (all versions)
• Windows Server LTSC (all versions)
• Windows 10 client LTSC (all versions)
