SmartVision 3 - Check/restore microphone permissions for apps
Problem
A customer encounters a problem where the microphone appears not to be receiving audio so the Google Voice button or Alexa app does open but does not appear to accept voice commands.
Resolution
When an app is not receiving audio it can be a good idea to check if the app you wish to receive audio via the microphone has the appropriate permissions. After doing so you may then test the app again to see if this fixes the problem. Use the general steps below:
Checking Microphone permissions
- From the home screen choose Settings > Privacy > Permissions Manager > Microphone.
- Select the app you wish to access the microphone then press OK.
- Select the permissions level using UP/DOWN ARROW keys.
- If no sound is being received by the app choose Allow Only When Using The App.

Note
- The anpve steps may be used to check or restore permission for the app to access the microphone.
- Additionally may select Don't Allow to prevent an app from receiving microphone audio.
Testing the Microphone
You can then use an app like Sound Recorder to check if the microphone is working properly:
- From the home screen select Applications then press OK.
- Uses UP/DOWN ARROW keys to scroll to Sound Sound Recorder then press OK.
- In Sound Recorder press OK on New Voice Memo, a countdown will sound, speak after the beeps to test the microphone.
- To stop recording press OK on Pause to stop recording,
- Press OK on Save, the recording will be saved for review.
- Press DOWN ARROW to Voice Memo List and press OK.
- In the list use UP/DOWN ARROW keys to find the recording just made then press OK to listen. If volume is low trying using the volume keys on the right side panel until the volume is comfortable.
- When done press BACK or Home button to exit the application.
