HP 245 G8 - Action key shortcuts

Problem

A customer needs to know the Action Key assignments shipped with the HP 245 laptop.


Detail

Action keys are enabled by default on most HP laptops including the HP 245 G8 laptop.  This requires the user to use Fn key with any function key to use regular function keys.

Resolution

Note

On laptops where Action Keys are enabled pressing Fn with each key is not necessary. This setting can be changed in BIOS.

Fn+F1 = Help
Fn+F2 = Decrease diplay brightness
Fn+F3 = Increase display brihtness
Fn+F4 = display/external monitor toggle
Fn+F5 = Keyboard backlight
Fn+F6 = Mute sound
Fn+F7 = volume down
Fn+F8 = Volume up
Fn+F9 = Media back
Fn+F10 = Media play
Fn+F11 = Media next
Fn+F12 = Aiplane mode
