JAWS - Check local ILM Authorisation

Problem

A JAWS user wishes to verify the status of their JAWS product license.

Detail

In order for JAWS to operate as a full license there must be ILM authorisation key sufficient to meet the license for the currently running JAWS version.  If no ILM authorisation is installed JAWS will run in 40 minute demo mode only.  If a customer uses a USB dongle please see checking for dongle license instead.

Resolution

Pleases use the steps below to check the status of the installed ILM license for JAWS. 


Note
If required one may also check online ILM license using FSActivate website. For example one may wish to check for any unused SMA counts if the local key has not been updated with them.


  1. Press WINDOWS key then search Utilities – JAWS and press ENTER to open the result.  A typical example would be Utilities - JAWS 2024.
  2. In the new explorer window use the cursor navigation UP/DOWN keys to navigate to “ILM Authorisation Viewer” and press ENTER to open it.
  3. Then press TAB to reach the read only edit box and using the ARROW KEYS review the information display to check the license details including supported version and SMA counts.
