Problem
A JAWS customer wishes to use the new Face In View camera support.
Applies to
- JAWS
- Fusion
Resolution
JAWS has a feature introduced in 2024 called Face in View,
information about it can be found below.
What does Face In does
Face In View attempts to address the difficulties faced
by those JAWS uses who are unable to monitor the image from their camera
streaming to participants in video meeting apps. It does this by providing hints to allow you
to position yourself, address lighting issues etc that may adversely affect the
display from your camera.

View works.
- Open the Camera
application from the Windows Start menu.
- Start Face in View via

in the background and start announcing instructions on how to centre your face
and the brightness information.
- To stop the announcement,
you need to switch to the opened Face in View Window and close it.
Settings to try
- Go to Settings Center
and switch to default settings.
- TAB to the tree view of
settings and scroll down to “Face in View”.
- Expand “Face in View”.
You will find:
- The checkbox “Auto start Seamless
Experience when the camera feed is detected” allows Face in View to start
automatically when JAWS detects that you turned your camera on.
- The checkbox for ‘Start Seamless
Experience minimized’ allows you to customize if Face in View should launch in
the foreground or be minimized when your camera is on.
