JAWS - Temporarily mute JAWS speech

Problem

A JAWS user would like to silence JAWS speech temporarily.

Applies to

  1. JAWS

Resolution

  1. Press JAWSKey+SPACEBAR to activate the layered command.
  2. Press S to toggle the speech mode between Full Speech, Speech On Demand, and Mute Speech.
  3. If you want to toggle between Speech On Demand and Mute Speech while Full Speech is disabled, you can press INSERT+SPACEBAR followed by SHIFT+S.
  4. When ready to start speech use the JAWSKey+SPACEBAR and press S to toggle speech back on.
