Problem
A JAWS user encounters significant difficulties using the Facebook web application.

Resolution
Freedom Scientific and Meta have developed a system for substituting the normal JAWS web hotkeys for a set developed specifically for a Facebook web application. The intention is to make using Facebook and the functions normally associated with it easier to use.
Enable the Facebook web application hotkeys
- Press JAWSKey+F2 to open the managers list.
- Using UP/DOWN arrow keys select Settings Centre, then press ENTER.
- In Settings Centre enter text to search: Web Page.
- Then press down arrow to reach the option: Web Applications Reserved Keystrokes.
- Then press SPACEBAR to enable the checkbox.
- Then press TAB key to reach Apply then press SPACEBAR.
- Then press ENTER to dismiss Settings Centre.
Hotkey list
With the web application keystrokes enabled the following shortcuts become available to the user whilst using Facebook:
J and K – Scroll forward/backward between feed stories
ENTER – See more of the selected story
P – Post a new status
L – Like/Un-like the selected story
C – Comment on the selected story
S – Share the selected story
O – Open an attachment from the selected story
/ – Search
Q – Search chat contacts
? – Open a list of Facebook shortcuts while in Feed
