JAWS – Using convenient OCR within File Explorer

Problem

A JAWS user wishes to access a PDF or image file for text using Convenient OCR context menu.

Resolution

  1. In File Explorer focus the selection on the PDF document file to be scanned, then press SHIFT+F10.
  2. Then press UP ARROW to select Show More Options, then press ENTER.
  3. Then use UP/DOWN ARROW keys to select one of the options below, then press ENTER to start the process: to need:

    Convenient OCR to Word
    Convenient OCR with JAWS

  4. JAWS will begin processing the document using some pop sounds to indicate this activity.Depending on the option selected you will either be presented with the result in Microsoft Word or in the JAWS results window.
